CNN —The “Sonic the Hedgehog” movies weren’t particularly good, but they had Jim Carrey and made a lot of money, so inevitably, there’s more. Lacking Carrey to help carry the load, “Knuckles,” spun out of that game-to-screen universe, isn’t just bad, but a next-level degree of bad, starting with the puzzling question of for whom this six-episode Paramount+ series was made. Despite only six half-hour episodes to complete the trek from points A to B, “Knuckles” goes nowhere fast and doesn’t seem to be in much of a hurry to get anywhere. “I do not make jokes,” Knuckles tells Wade. “Knuckles” premieres April 26 on Paramount+.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but I've been trying to get pregnant for months now. I want to be a single mother by choice, and have actually been working with a sperm donor here in DC. But it occurs to me…you would be an excellent candidate for the role of biological father to my baby… Would you ever consider being a sperm donor? It really would mean a lot to me for my child to have a relationship with the donor. I chose David because I wanted to be able to be certain that I wasn't going to screw up my kid — at least not by using the wrong donor sperm.

I don’t know what time it was when my husband at the time, the rock climber Tommy Caldwell, finally scrambled over the summit. The sun had risen sometime during the first part of the climb and had set again hours later. He had just completed the second free ascent of the Direct Route on the northwest face of Half Dome, a 2,000-foot climb in Yosemite National Park. The climber Todd Skinner spent 61 days in 1993 working to establish the Direct Route, then considered the most difficult big wall climb in the world, before reaching the top. Hanging in the middle of Half Dome was an ordinary thing.

Food workers wash their hands as they should only one in three times, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The consequence: Germs spread from food workers’ hands to food, which can trigger an outbreak of dangerous foodborne illness in restaurants. By improving handwashing practices, food workers can be a critical part to preventing outbreaks of diseases like norovirus, Salmonella, and E. coli, it said. “In all circumstances, thorough, frequent hand hygiene is critical for preventing the spread of disease. Technology can potentially assist with increasing compliance and quality of hand hygiene, and that is very exciting indeed,” she said.

So is “Piglet” a frothy, fun, forgettable confection, or is it heftier, meatier, the kind of “serious” book that might win prizes, or even male readers? If I owned a bookstore, I’d hand-sell “Piglet” to everyone. “What is it about you and more, more, more?”There’s a lot Hazell doesn’t tell us about Piglet. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota jail workers ignored the pleas of a 41-year-old man who died of a perforated bowel after spending days begging to be taken to a hospital, with pain so severe that he was forced to crawl on the floor of his cell, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday. Lucas Bellamy was treated like “he was subhuman, like he was an animal,” according to the suit filed against Hennepin County and Hennepin Healthcare in the U.S. District Court in Minneapolis. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, which operates the jail, offered condolences to the family in a written statement but declined to comment on the lawsuit because it was just filed and is ongoing. During jail intake, he told staff that he had ingested a bag of drugs and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, known as HCMC, the suit said. I spatchcock the chicken to help it fit in my air fryer. Andy LynesSpatchcocking, or removing the backbone to flatten out the chicken, is key for my recipe. Some larger air fryers are big enough to fit the whole chicken straight out of the package, in which case you can skip this step. Turn the chicken over and snip off the wing tips and the knuckles on the legs. Finally, using the flat of your hand, press down on the central breast bone to flatten the chicken.

As Gen Alpha memes dominate the internet, many have ridiculed them for being too inane. Gen Zers are now reminding each other their memes have been equally as ridiculous as "Skibidi Toilet." Older generations — particularly Gen Z — worried they were falling out of touch since they didn't understand its nonsensical humor. Three of the most popular TikToks over the last few weeks feature chaotic montages recalling popular Gen Z memes. The TikToks feature hypothetical quotes on-screen about people saying Gen Alpha "is literally watching brainrot," and then include a statement insinuating that what Gen Z watched wasn't any better.

“I don’t know what the hell I was doing wearing this.”But Chalamet has long relied on the wow factor of a shirtless suit for red carpet engagements. Chalamet's magenta velvet suit was from Tom Ford's latest collection. Jean-Paul Gaultier's "Pin Up Boys" from the 1996 season were early examples of the shirtless suit on the runway. In Gaultier’s infamous Spring-Summer 1996 collection, titled “Pin-Up Boys,” the shirtless suit was gauche, cheesy and even funny. For Chalamet, shirtlessness is fast becoming a state of mind.

But at its core, “Pedro Páramo” is a tale of two journeys, or perhaps one journey that unfolds into two. The narrator, Juan Preciado, goes to his parents’ hometown after his mother dies, seeking his long-estranged father, Pedro Páramo. If where and when we are in “Pedro Páramo” is constantly shifting, then sound is the swift and sinuous vehicle that carries us through it. (It was a fun experiment, and we shared the results with the sound designers of a forthcoming “Pedro Páramo” film. They wrote back to say they were inspired by our sound lists and wanted to credit the students.)

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A$AP Rocky could learn Monday whether he will be ordered to trial on allegations that he fired a gun at a former friend and collaborator outside a Hollywood hotel. It appears to show Rocky brandishing a gun and possibly firing it, though his lawyers deny that he did so. Rocky was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport in the case in April, and charged in August. He was found guilty of assault at trial but was given a “conditional sentence” that meant no additional jail time. Now, Rocky is being represented in the Los Angeles case by Trump lawyer Joe Tacopina, who representing the ex-president in his New York criminal case and others.

Stian Jenssen, the chief of staff to the secretary general of NATO, recently had his knuckles rapped when he commented on possible options for an end to the war in Ukraine that did not envision a complete Russian defeat. He also said that “it must be up to Ukraine to decide when and on what terms they want to negotiate,” which is NATO’s standard line. But the damage was done. The remarks provoked an angry condemnation from the Ukrainians; a clarification from his boss, Jens Stoltenberg; and ultimately an apology from Mr. Jenssen. The contretemps, say some analysts who have been similarly chastised, reflects a closing down of public discussion on options for Ukraine just at a moment when imaginative diplomacy is most needed, they say.

In the new book “Getting In,” the journalist David Kennerley takes an electric visual stroll through New York’s 1990s gay club scene. “People threw the fliers on the ground,” Kennerley, 63, said in a recent interview at a Midtown cafe. A self-described “bit of a hoarder,” Kennerley considers the book an act of queer music history preservation. “We weren’t all snapping pictures at clubs back then, so we don’t have much of a visual record,” he said. “These provide some sort of visual evidence of what went on.”

Flight crew smelled smoke coming from the bathroom on a flight from Turkey to Leeds, UK, in 2021. On the flight from Turkey to Leeds, England, on October 12, 2021, the flight crew smelled smoke coming from the bathroom and suspected the passenger, Arshad Khan, of smoking a cigarette. When they confronted Khan, he denied it and became "more and more aggressive," prosecutor Harry Crowson told Leeds Crown Court. The outlet said Khan initially told officials he had no comment and then later claimed someone had planted the weapons. In May of this year, another passenger was also hauled off a flight in the UK after being caught smoking in the bathroom.

I want to grill and grill and grill some more, eat outside and devour tomatoes and corn. Thread the knuckles of meat onto skewers, then grill them over a fairly hot grill; serve with seeded Italian semolina bread, hot sauce and a white sauce of mayonnaise, sour cream, minced garlic and a splash of red wine vinegar. Alternatively, you might try Yewande Komolafe’s new recipe for grilled steak with sauce rof (above), a Senegalese condiment made of minced onion, parsley, scallions and chile. I’d go with skirt or hanger steak there, and maybe one extra jalapeño for pop. Or try Melissa Clark’s gingery grilled chicken thighs with charred peaches?

In due course the novel offers a steamy love story, and Patrick proves to be a deft hand at the erotic. I do mean “hand” — an important word when it comes to queer sex, for obvious reasons. How they look at her informs her relationship to her butch body. It makes her transparent to the headmaster, who cannot recognize her as a sexual rival for his femme wife’s affections. Then there’s “the Housemistress,” the other butch working at the school, who becomes a kind of talisman.

In 2011, a gorilla named Zola gained internet fame when the Calgary Zoo posted a video that showed him spinning in circles on his knuckles and heels with what appeared to be a huge grin on his face. Humans’ love of spinning around in circles, especially during childhood, is evidenced by the enduring popularity of playground merry-go-rounds, revolving fun park rides and the irresistible draw of somersaulting down a hill. But new research suggests that humans are not alone in their pursuit of spin-induced buzzes. According to findings published last month in the journal Primates, other great ape species also seem to regularly enjoy stimulating their senses through spinning, possibly even in pursuit of altered mental states. “So it’s really cool to find that other primates do this, too, and that they seem to do it for the same reason that children do: because it’s fun and exhilarating.”

On April 1, 2001, a US EP-3 spy plane collided with a Chinese fighter jet over the South China Sea. One of eleven left in the fleet, the tired 1960s-era spy plane bristled with porcupine-like antennas. Within minutes, however, the fighters had reached the lumbering spy plane, and while Zhao Yu hung back about a half-mile, Wang Wei rapidly closed in. In severe trouble, he immediately radioed the base, telling them he was unable to maneuver and being sucked in by the spy plane. "You are not allowed aboard the aircraft," Osborn said.
